The Beginning
As per last year, this first page is a bit boring as I'm not one of those people that takes pictures of airports, planes and the like. I promise the next pages should be better - they have photos for a start!

Getting to the US
A day nearly entirely spent travelling. When booking the flight I'd realised that I could get connecting flights between Heathrow and Manchester for only £50 which was about the same price as a train and meant I wouldn't have to be at Heathrow the evening before. On the down side it did mean getting a taxi at 6 which wasn't much fun as I'm definitely not a morning person.
Everything went to plan and after several hours of boredom I was finally heading out of Dallas airport in my hire car. I had plans to stop at a 7-eleven (to get a phone card) and a REI (to get supplies). Traffic in Dallas was much heavier than I was expecting, and that combined with the first 7-eleven I found having no phone cards meant I got to my hotel much later than I was hoping. No way I could complain however as all the important things (e.g. immigration, picking up hire car) had gone much better than I'd dared hope so I went to bed quite happy.

Heading to Arkansas
Thursday morning was spent doing the rest of the drive to the bit of Arkansas where I planned to start my holiday proper and picking up supplies at WalMart. As you may not be surprised to hear neither of these were particularly exciting so I won't comment further!
